Training drivers is a key component of any fleet safety program. Since you can not physically supervise your drivers while they are out on the road, the training you provide is significant in helping them to make correct and safe decisions.
While there are required training topics that must be used per DOT and others, a good training program should start with a goal of what you want to accomplish. Training should be thought of as a means of improving driver performance, not simply a dissemination of information. First decide what key points need focus so that you can provide clear direction on what you want students to learn. While you need to cover many topics, you can focus on several specific areas for improvement.
