Barry Stock
BARRY STOCK is Senior Vice President of Business Development for National Express Corp. In this position, Mr. Stock oversees business development for both Durham School Services and Stock Transportation.
Durham School Services is the third largest student transportation company in the United States and Stock Transportation Ltd. is the second largest student transportation company in Canada. Both companies are part of the U.K. National Express Group, and are the student transportation platforms of National Express Corp. in their respective countries.
Mr. Stock graduated from Seneca College in 1982 with honors. After graduation, he worked for a bus company in Western Canada. In 1988 Mr. Stock started Stock School Transport, then amalgamated it with two other family companies in 1992 to become "Stock Transportation". Together, they grew the business to 2200 buses before selling to National Express in 2002.
For recreation, Barry enjoys marathon running, snowboarding, water sports at the cottage and traveling with his family. He and his wife Jean are the proud parents of three very active daughters.
Mr. Stock has been affiliated with many industry groups and is a member of the Canadian Association of Family Enterprise (CAFE). Barry currently chairs the NSTA strategic planning and marketing committees. Additionally, he is on the Executive Committee of the National School Transportation Association and is slated to become President of the Association in 2007.
Mr. Stock has received various prestigious awards including School Bus Fleet magazine's Contractor of the Year Award in 1997.
