Dan Kobussen

DAN KOBUSSEN is the Secretary Treasurer of Kobussen Buses Ltd.

Kobussen Buses Ltd. has been in the transportation business for 65 years. It has grown into one of the state's largest full-service school bus, motor coach and transit companies. Kobussen Buses Ltd. currently employs about 280 professionally licensed drivers, dispatchers, mechanics administrative and safety personnel all while remaining a local family-owned and operated company with one goal in mind - providing "Family pride in every ride".

Some history includes:

• Founded in 1938 as Kaukauna Bus Service, Inc. they began by transporting local farm children to the Kaukauna High School.
• In 1958 the city of Kaukauna contracted the company to operate and manage their intercity transit system.
• In 1967 Kaukauna Bus Service, Inc. began transporting students for the Neenah Joint School District.
• In 1976, the name Kobussen Buses Ltd. was adopted.
• In 1980, Para transit/fixed route services were added when Outagamie County contracted Kobussen Buses Ltd. to provide transportation services to adults with disabilities.
• In 1983, the company entered the luxury motor coach business. In 1993 Outagamie County added rural demand service offering 70 trips daily.
• In 1998, Valley Transit II Para transit services were started operating 300-400 rides daily.
• In 1999, Kobussen Buses Ltd. began transporting students for the Oshkosh School District.
• In 2003, Kobussen Buses Ltd. began transportation of Waupaca County Industries, a rural fixed route transit system and for Oconto Unified Schools.
• Kobussen Buses, Ltd. has never defaulted on any transportation contract in 65 years of business.

Mr. Kobussen provides a wealth of transportation experience to the firm. After graduating from the University of Wisconsin Oshkosh, he returned to the family business. Previously, Mr. Kobussen worked with a Milwaukee Public Schools transportation company. He has formed a management and driver team that provides unequaled service in the transportation industry. Most recently Mr. Kobussen has completed his MBA from the University Wisconsin Milwaukee.

Mr. Kobussen also works very closely with customers to ensure safety and the most efficient transportation possible for students, parents, and staff. He currently is on the board of directors of the Wisconsin School Bus Association and National School Transportation Association, and is involved with many committees of both Associations.

Mr. Kobussen has been instrumental in introducing the latest technology to the office as well as streamlining the flow of information.

In Mr. Kobussen's free time, he enjoys computer tinkering and is an accomplished wood worker. He and his wife also enjoy the many cultural events the Fox Valley area has to offer.

Mr. Kobussen's background includes: Current Board of Director of both the Wisconsin School Bus Association and National School Transportation Association, and he is involved with many committees of both Associations.
